NJEIS & P.K. Yonge

Since 2012

Gainesville and NJEIS have been sister schools ever since the agreements were signed in 2012 and we went and visited them for the first time in 2013. Ever since we became sister schools we have traveled back inforth to visit each others schools.

How we Became Sister Schools

As a result of a formal agreement in 2012 between the The UF College of Education (with whom P.K. Yonge is affiliated) and Nanjing Xiaozhuang Teaching University (with whom NJEIS is affiliated) the opportunity arose for P.K. Yonge  and NJEIS to establish an exchange relationship. The P.K. Yonge administration was interested in expanding  global connections and international experiences for students and faculty at P.K. Yonge in ways that had more depth than a ‘regular’ tour of a foreign country. The opportunity for students to spend time in a school, connecting with students, and staying with families was of great interest to both schools. At P.K. Yonge, we wanted students to be able to learn that, as one NJEIS welcome speech noted: “No matter the color of our hair, eyes, or skin, our hearts are all the same.” We wanted participants to experience a different culture in a more authentic way and for that opportunity to be embedded in the school experience at P.K. Yonge, both for students who traveled and for students who encountered NJEIS students on our own campus..

Traveling History

NEJIS came to PK Yonge in 2014, 2016, 2018 when they came over to PK Yonge they stayed with a PK Yonge student and there family this experience was to to what how we did things differently and so that they could learn more about the culture and maybe some of the language.

In 2013,2015,2017,2019 PK Yonge went to Nanjing and visited them and there school when we went we went there is study there culture and what they did and how they did it. Each student that went to Nanjing went there and stayed with one f the student family’s there.
