My inspiration for my piece of artwork comes from my parents and my teacher. My teacher helps and encourages me a lot. The parts of my artwork that represent Florida and Rzeszow are the symbols on the front. The desired effect of my piece of artwork is somebody looking at it to realize it has a connection between two cities that helped each other out a lot. My sculpture is 5 feet tall, 3 feet by 4 feet wide and weighs 200 lbs. It’s made of rock and metal and it’s shaped like an airplane engine. why I chose it to be rock and metal is because it’s sturdy safe and strong. It’s primary location is to be around the park that’s at Gainesville City Hall. It enhances it’s surroundings by being beautiful, orderly and shows the connections between Gainesville and other cities. If it cannot be placed there it can go in Depot Park where a lot of people go and can see it.
Letter to the Mayor
Dear Mayor Lauren Poe,
My name is Juan Mateo, I am a sixth-grade student at PK Yonge. I’m designing a piece of artwork that represents a friendship between Gainesville and Rzeszow.
I want to have a piece of my artwork placed outside of City Hall, because lots of people go there and because it’s the city center. My inspiration for my artwork is from my teachers, my parents, and one of the most important fact is that Rzeszow is one of the biggest airports in the world. That’s why I designed it to look like an airplane engine. I want people to view the artwork and understand the cooperation between two cities inspired me to make this. I want the people who see my artwork to be inspired to build artwork that represents other cities that have made connections with each other. The holes in my artwork-the alligator head on one side and the pinwheel on the other-represent Gainesville and Rzeszow. My piece of artwork is 5 ft tall and 3 by 4 ft wide and weighs 200 lbs. It’s made of concrete and I chose this because it’s easier to use a mold in concreye than in metal.
My piece of artwork is built for safety and strength in balance. I want my piece of artwork to be put in front of Gainesville City Hall, but if it can’t go there. I want it to be put in Depot Park or some other public park, because I would like tons of people to see it and be inspired by it. My piece of artwork would show the relationship between Gainesville and Rzeszow it will also add more beauty to Gainesville with more artwork. I believe it will affect the future by encouraging people to work together to solve problems, so that people can become friends with people from different cultures and different parts of the world and bring more peace to the world.
Thank you for your consideration,
Juan Mateo Calama,
