[Bittikoffer, Andrew] Rzeszów And Gainesville Installation Art

Written Concept

The goal of the artwork would be to represent some sort of bond between Gainesville and Rzeszow. I’m not sure what inspired me to make this, but it is supposed to look like a ceremonial item. When someone sees this artwork, I want them to understand the bond between sister cities, specifically Gainesville and Rzeszow.

It’s proportions would be (If stood up vertically, including the spheres) about 10 ft high and 2 feet wide for the handle, and the spheres at the ends would be about 4 feet wide. the spheres at the ends would probably be made of metal or a sort of non-transparent glass, the designs at the edge of the handle would be gold painted metal, and the handle in the middle would be red tinted glass, with two outlets on either side transferring energy to each other inside the red glass. If this were to be placed somewhere as a sculpture, it would be slanted diagonally.

I think it would go well outside the Cade museum next to Depot Park, with a little sign in front of the sculpture telling people about sister cities and stuff. I think it might also work inside the Cade museum. It could probably hang on the ceiling with the sign on one of the balconies on the upper floors pointing towards it.

btw, the image I’m talking about is the 4th image in the initial concepts batch assignment

Letter To Mayor Lauren Poe

Dear Mayor Lauren Poe,

My name is Andrew Bittikoffer. I’m a 6th grade student at P.K. Yonge, and I am designing a work of installation art to represent the friendship between Gainesville and Rzeszow.

The goal of the artwork is to represent the bond between Gainesville and Rzeszow. I didn’t really have a specific inspiration, but it’s supposed to look like a ceremonial piece, even though the legs make it look like a swing set. It’s supposed to make an archway, with the sculpture itself being the top part and the legs being the supports… okay I explained that poorly. But, when someone looks at it, I want them to understand how Gainesville and Rzeszow connect as sister cities.

The sculpture’s width (side to side) would be 10 feet, and about 7 feet off the ground, being lifted by the supports/legs. The spheres at both ends would be made of metal, one of them being painted blue, the other, white. The blue sphere would have a white cross on it, representing thr Rzeszow logo, and the white sphere would have a blue train on it, representing the Gainesville logo. There would be metal plates on the ends of the tube in the middle connecting to the spheres. They would be cut into 4 dome-like flat shapes surrounding the ends of the middle tube. They would then be painted gold. The tube in the middle will be transparent but also tinted red.

I can’t describe it’s location in Gainesville, but I think It is shown in the pictures i have provided, considering that you can access them. However, if it were to go in Rzeszow, it would go on a sidewalk (as an archway) leading to a fountain that has 3 lines of water streams extending from the middle.

I don’t intend for it to be built, I just thought it would look cool. But it would be cool if it was built. I’m not sure what purpose it would serve, just something for people to stop and look at. I’m not sure how it would affect the future, and I can’t draw trains.

Thank you for your consideration,

Andrew Bittikoffer
