The size of it will be meduim not to big the height would be 3ft. the materails I will be using is cement, glue, paper, paint, etc. I chose these items because I think these would be useful for what I am trying to make for the project. [Ashley, Diana] Rzeszów Installation Art

Letter to the Mayor

Dear Mayor Lauren Poe,

My name is Diana Ashley. I’m a 6th grade student at P.K. Yonge, and I am designing a work of installation art to represent the friendship between Gainesville and Rzeszów.

I’d like to propose a large sculpture, approximately five feet high, 7 feet wide, and 3 feet deep. This metal sculpture would embody the relationship between Rzeszów and Gainesville that began in 2006. Please see the attached drawings for more detail. The sculpture would be metal to be in line with most of the other sculptures around Gainesville, while also being strong and resistant to weather.

Ideally, the sculpture would be installed prominently in Gainesville and in Rzeszów. The Sister Cities Pavilion in front of City Hall or plaza would be perfect locations. Please see the attached visualizations.

I hope my artwork will inspire citizens of Gainesville to learn about Rzeszów. I hope that it will be a physical reminder of our friends in other countries. When someone looks at it, I hope they think about how big the world is, and how we have friends on the other side of the world that want to meet us and share their culture with us. It will bring our cities closer together, it will celebrate our friendship, and it will make the world at once more wondrous and more accessible to the people of Rzeszów and Gainesville.

Thank you for your consideration,

Diana Ashley

Written Concept

Where does the inspiration from the artwork come from? What do its parts represent?

My inspiration come from the love I have for my city and the way we stick together.  I want Rzeszow and Gainesvilel to stick together like glue the way my city does

What do you want somebody viewing the artwork to feel/understand/do?

When my art work is viewed, I want the person to feel safe and loved and feel the connection between the cities

Why is it the specific size that it is? Height, area, weight, etc.

It is not a specific size for any reason but I want it be big, almost 6 feet by 6 feet.

Why these materials? What do they mean? Are these practical choices?

I chose metal because it tough and can’t be broken, hopefully just like the cities relationship.

What is the meaning behind the shape of the artwork? Are some of those decisions made for safety or strength?

The shape of art work will look likee a bottle of glue.  The glue represents the how the people of our cities stick together.

How does the artwork enhance the surroundings? How do the surroundings enhance the artwork?

I guess it would stand out and look pretty people so people would like to see it

Is there anywhere else that this artwork would work? What changes would have to be made for this alternate location? My artwork should be somwehere special that people could come and see it, like city hall, PK Yonge or a park. No changes would be made with changing the location.

Letter to the Mayor

Dear Mayor Lauren Poe,

My name is Caiden Lee. I’m an 8th grade student at P.K. Yonge, and I am designing a work of installation art to represent the friendship between Gainesville and Nayrn.

I’d like to propose large anchor like scluture, approximately eight feet high, ten feet wide, and two feet deep – just taller than a human being to inspire awe while remaining approachable. Dear Mayor Lauren Poe,

My name is Terrence Ho. I’m an 8th grade student at P.K. Yonge, and I am designing a work of installation art to represent the friendship between Gainesville and Mejdlaya.

I’d like to propose large twin sculptures, approximately seven feet high, seven feet wide, and two feet deep – just taller than a human being to inspire awe while remaining approachable. These wooden sculpture, in the form of a cedar tree (to represent Mejdlaya) and an oak tree (to represent Gainesville), would embody the growing relationship between Medjlaya and Gainesville that began in 2015. The sculpture would be fashioned from pressure treated live oak/pine or cedar to evoke the native flora of Gainesville/Mejdlaya while also being strong and resistant to weather.

Ideally, the sculptures would be installed prominently in both Gainesville and Mejdlaya. The Sister Cities Pavilion in front of City Hall in Gainesville would be a perfect location. The proposed location in Mejdlaya is yet to be determined. Please see the attached visualizations.

I hope my artwork will inspire citizens of Gainesville to learn about Mejdlaya and Lebanon. I hope that it will be a physical reminder of our friends in other countries. [Hall, Hobby] Rzeszów Installation Art

Written Concept

I am keeping the spectacles idea but removing the beret. I am now thinking of having a piece of artwork that is important to each of us in each specticle frame. The colors here would represent Gainesville with orange and blue.

The size would be 8-9′ in height. 7′ wide

Red Frames to represent Rzeszow.

There are 2 pillars (benches) holding up the glasses. Both are white to represent Rzeszow.

The materials to use would definitely include sheet metal that catches attention.

The location I would choose would be in park in both Rzeszow and Gainesville. An alternate place would be outside the school in Rzeszow.

Letter to the Mayor

Dear Mayor Lauren Poe,

My name is Lamar Hobson Hall but I go by the name Hobby! 🙂

I’m a 6th grade student at P.K. Yonge, and I am designing a work of installation art to represent the friendship between Gainesville and Rzeszow that was formed in 2013.

I’d like to propose a large sculpture, approximately seven feet high, ten feet wide, and 3 feet deep – just taller than a human to inspire awe while remaining approachable. This multi-colored shiny metal sculpture, in the form of a pair of spectacles  ( 2 equal circles connected by a bridge) being held up by 2 pillars that you can physically sit on (to represent Rzeszow, they are white). The spectacles are red (also Rzeszow colors) and would contain a symbol in each “lense” in orange and blue colors. These symbols represent both places. The sculpture would be metal to be in line with most of the other sculptures around Gainesville, while also being strong and resistant to weather.

Ideally, the sculpture would be installed prominently in Gainesville and in Rzeszow. The Sister Cities Pavilion in front of City Hall or Westside Park in Gainesville would be perfect. In Rzeszow, they would be in the cultural park.

I hope my artwork will inspire citizens of Gainesville to learn about the sister city program and especially about Rzeszow. I hope that it will be a physical reminder of our friends in other countries. When someone looks at it, I hope they think about how big the world is, and how we have friends on the other side of the world that want to meet us and share their culture with us. It will bring our cities closer together, it will celebrate our friendship, and it will make the world at once more wondrous and more accessible to the people of Rzeszow and Gainesville.

Thank you for your consideration,

A concrete sculpture next to the trees on the left side of Gainesville city hall.

Letter to the Mayor

Dear mayor Lauren Poe,

My name is  Tyler carlson. I am a 6th grade student at P.K. yonge and I am designing a work of installation art to represent the spinosaurus which was a very small dinosaur.

I would like to show you a 14 feet tall sculpture. Each part represents a bone. If someone sees this I would like them to understand that even  one of the smallest dinosaurs is still pretty big compared to the size of a human. A primary location for the sculpture would be the Gainesville city hall  because it represents Gainesville every time someone drove by. A secondary location would be the museum because it would go with the other dinosaurs in the natural history museum. The surroundings enhance the artwork by being a little place to hangout under the trees when it’s hot.

Thankyou for your consideration,

Tyler Carlson

Letter to the Mayor

greeting Lauren Poe

i am Maddox M from PK yonge 8th grade i was making this latter to see if you would be interested in a statue that would make two city more united it I am working on a project with Mejdlaya people to see if we can get a statue that represent these two city’s together and represent both of these cites people and it would unify us the people of Gainesville and the people of Mejdlaya it could be place in front of city hall or the hospital or other places like parks and in front of other important areas of Gainesville.

The best part about this too is it will be a sigh of unity between the two city’s and also this will be a good thing for us all to show we are in harmony with other city we could also become a sister city with Mejdlaya.

And that we will it can also start trade between Gainesville and Mejdlaya we will be in touch and people might visit Mejdlaya and the other way around. Also the materials i would use some type of aluminum alloy and use paint such as white and black because that would show the traditional Arabic clothing and for Gainesville you could put a someone wearing gator clothing either holding  there hand to the sky or doing the classic gator chomp and for the paints for the gator stuff blue orange and for them a nice skin tone. The reason it is shape the way it is is because it firstly hard to create a human in tinker cad and also it need a whole lot of custom shapes which makes it hard to get right with normal human sizes but you can make it look a lot smoother and cleaner in real life then my concept and make it look like a normal human.

So hope you take this into consideration

thanks for you time

[James, Natheniel] Naryn School No. 8 Installation Art 2

Written Concept

The concept of my artwork are two people holding a flag to represent Gainesville and Naryn coming together to establish a new culture together. Naryn’s person will have their traditional hat and clothes, to represent their culture. Gainesville’s person will have some regular everyday shorts and a shirt to represent an average Floridian. The goal of my art work is to remind people of how big the world is and to make people want to learn more about sister cities around the world. I propose a Sculpture that is 8 feet tall and 9 feet wide all together. The people holding the flag will be 6 ft. tall and 3 ft. wide (including their arms) just above an average human. The materials that will be used is a metal flag pole, a custom flag, and the people would be carved out of wood. The location of the artwork will be in front of the PK Younge auditorium parking lot because there are many blank areas that could use the help of a colorful sculpture.
